Editing a Canvas Course

Canvas, unlike Moodle, does not use a single "Turn editing on" toggle. Instead, editing is context-specific. You can modify content by clicking the "Edit" button or the "Options" menu (three vertical dots) on individual pages or items.

Visiting another page, this time Modules, will give you an option to edit each item individually. In the screenshot below, clicking the three vertical dots yields a drop-down menu with an edit option at the top.

Note that there is a “View as Student” button at the top of the page (this is visible in the above screenshot). Clicking this will show how the course and content appears to a student. In Student View, the parameters of the page are highlighted in pink, and you can return to an instructor view by clicking the “Leave Student View" at the bottom of the page.
