Most areas where you can use a text editor in Canvas, such as in Discussion posts or in assignments with Online Text enabled, you have access to the Kaltura Media button, which looks like a starburst, in the text editor window. This will bring up your Kaltura Media and give you both the chance to add new media in a separate window if you need to, and/or embed media you have uploaded in the content you are working on.
Steps
Did you record on your phone? Posting on Canvas is more reliable on a desktop or laptop. The options below are ways to quickly and simply get the video file onto another device. Most of these options will be found under the “share” option on your mobile device. If you have the Kaltura app installed, upload it to Kaltura. Android app, iOS app
Uploading on a desktop or laptop computer
- If you’re submitting through a Discussion post:
- Open the Discussion
- Click the Reply button
- In any text area: Click the Kaltura starburst in the text area’s menu bar.

Choose “Upload media”

If you have already uploaded your video, for instance by using the My Media area or the Kaltura app, choose Add From Library.

Otherwise, add your video in the Upload media box. It can accept drag-and-drop, or you can click the button to search for your video on your device.

Check the Name area - edit that name to be a descriptive title.

Click the Save button

In the upper right, click the Embed button.

The popup will close and you will see your post with the Kaltura video in it.

Click Reply to save your post.
On Mobile
- Kaltura media is most easily submitted to Canvas on a desktop or laptop computer.

View your Kaltura library
In Canvas, use the My Media tab at the top of any page to view the videos you have saved in Kaltura, or create or upload new ones.
