Personal-use computer and software discounts available to MHC employees

Current MHC staff, faculty, and emeritus faculty are eligible for education discount pricing on a variety of computer hardware and software products for personal use.

Computer hardware for personal use

Smith College Computer Store

All current MHC faculty and staff are eligible for education discount pricing at the Smith College Computer Store located in Northampton, MA. The store offers a variety of Apple and Dell products including laptops, desktops, monitors, iPads, and accessories. 

Apple Education Store

The Apple Education Storefront offers Apple products at discounted prices for individuals affiliated with educational institutions. When buying online, you may be prompted to verify your affiliation status by entering your MHC email address; otherwise, there are no other verification methods required. Before making a purchase, review these terms and conditions associated with the Apple Education Storefront as there are quantity restrictions on some items.

Apple also offers education pricing at official retail stores. For verification, you will need to show your OneCard at checkout.

Microsoft

Microsoft offers discounted pricing on select products for individuals affiliated with education institutions. Before making a purchase, review these terms and conditions associated with the education discount as there are some product restrictions.

1. You will first need to either sign in or create an account using a personal email address (not your MHC email address)
2. Once you've signed in, you will be prompted to verify your eligibility by entering your MHC email address
3. An eligibility verification email will then be sent to your MHC email address from Microsoft 
4. From the verification email, sign in and continue to shop with discounted pricing

Employee Purchase Discount Programs 

All MHC staff and faculty have access to multiple vendors offering computer hardware solutions through the College's Employee Purchase Discount Programs. Some vendors include W.B. Mason and Connection, which offer products from brands such as HP, Acer, and ViewSonic. Additionally, Staples offers products from brands such as Dell, Lenovo, and Asus.

To access these offers, you will need to log in to my.mtholyoke and navigate to the Employee Purchase Discount Programs page. 

Software for personal use

When it comes to purchasing computer software for personal use at discounted rates, there are several options available for MHC staff, faculty and emeritus faculty. Explore the options below for what works best for your needs.

• Apple Education Store offers a few types of software subscriptions at discounted rates, including:

  • Pro Apps Bundle (Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, Motion, Compressor, and MainStage)
  • Microsoft 365

• Microsoft offers a subscription for Microsoft 365 at a discounted rate for individuals affiliated with education institutions.

• Adobe offers a Student and Teacher discount for individuals affiliated with education institutions on Adobe Creative Cloud. Before making a purchase, review these terms and conditions and eligibility requirements.

Limited LITS support for personal-use technology

Generally, personally-owned devices are not eligible for LITS support. For these devices, LITS can advise you about steps you can take yourself or direct you to trusted off-campus resources.
