Instructions for installing MFDs and other campus printers on MHC-owned computers assigned to faculty and staff.
Overview
Follow the instructions below to install a campus printer to your MHC-owned macOS or Windows computer. To print from a personal device, install Mobility Print.
Before you Start, make sure that you're on the campus network (eduroam or hardwired ethernet). Keep in mind that in most cases you must also be an administrator on the computer.
macOS
Install in one click with the 
Self-Service application
Most MFDs are now available to install in one click in the Self-Service application on macOS.
- Open the Self-Service application
- Navigate down to Printers in the left-hand menu
- Find the printer you want to install
- Choose Install
Manual install
There are manual installation instructions attached to each departmental MFD. Follow those instructions (outlined generally below) to manually install the printer of your choice.
- Open System Preferences → Printers & Scanners
- Choose Add Printer, Scanner, or Fax (some older versions of macOS may have a + button)
- Select the IP tab
- Fill-in the following information:
- Address: print.ms.mtholyoke.edu
- Protocol: Line Printer Daemon - LPD
- Queue: YourPrinterName-mfd
- Name: YourPrinterName-mfd
- Use: Choose Select Software and search for 5540 or 3525, Select Canon iR-ADV C3525 III PS or Canon iR-ADV C5540 III PS and choose OK
- Choose Add
Windows
- Make sure you're connected to the campus network (eduroam, hardwired ethernet, or VPN)
- Select the Windows start button and type \\print
- Choose Enter to run the command
- Search for the printer by name (Example: LITS-Circulation-MFD)
- Select the printer to install it:
- Either double-click on the printer name
- Or right click > choose Connect
- You are now connected to the printer, but we suggest you run a test print to ensure your PC can communicate with the connected printer
