All MHC provisioned laptops are equipped with built-in speakers and do not require use of external desktop speakers for audio playback unless preferred by the user.

Desktop computers that are connected to a base model external monitor do require the use of external speakers for audio playback. LITS does supply one Dell sound bar per desktop computer by request. A Dell sound bar can be requested via a computer accessory request ticket.

Laptop and iPad case recommendations

While a case is not required for MHC owned laptops and iPads, they are a great way to extend the life of the device, especially for devices that were purchased using non-LITS funding.

Features to look for in a laptop case are a ventilated bottom to allow for air flow under the laptop in order to prevent over heating, padded or shock absorbing corners to prevent physical damage to the laptop, and water resistance to help prevent water damage to the laptop. These same features are recommended for iPad cases as well; although, a ventilated case is not necessary for an iPad as they typically do not operate at high temperatures.
