How to clear cache, cookies and other browser settings
How to clear cache, cookies and other browser settings
These instructions are for anyone who is experiencing issues related to their browser. It's good practice to do this once a week so the browser runs smoothly.
Overview
Use these instructions to clear browser settings.
macOS Chrome
macOS Safari
macOS Firefox
Windows Chrome
Windows Firefox
Windows Edge
Steps for each browser
macOS Chrome
Select the
three vertical dots
next to your profile picture and hover over
More Tools
.
Select
Clear Browsing Data
.
Select the check boxes for
browsing history, cookies and other site data, and cached images and files, and Hosted app data
. You may want to consider clearing other items in the Advanced menu as well.
Use the menu at the top to select the amount of data that you want to delete. Select the
beginning of time
to delete everything.
Select
Clear data
.
Perform a hard reload using the key sequence Command+Shift+R.
Quit Google Chrome and restart the browser.
macOS Safari
Open Safari and select
Safari
in the top menu.
Select
Clear History...
Select the
drop-down option all history
.
Select the button
Clear History
.
Quit Safari and restart the browser.
macOS Firefox
Open Firefox and select
the application menu (three horizontal lines)
.
Select
Settings
Select the
Privacy and Security tab
.
Under Cookies and Site Data, select
Clear Data...
Select the check boxes
Cookies and Site Data and Cached Web Content
.
Select
Clear
.
Select
Clear Now
.
Quit Firefox and restart the browser.
Windows Chrome
Select the
menu icon on the browser toolbar (three vertical dots)
.
Select
Clear browsing data
.
Select the
Advanced tab
.
Select the check boxes for
Browsing History, Download History, Cookies, and other site data, Cached images and files as well as Hosted app data
. You may want to consider clearing other items in the Advanced menu as well.
Use the menu at the top to select the amount of data that you want to delete. Select the
beginning of time
to delete everything.
Select
Clear data
.
Quit Chrome and restart the browser.
Windows Firefox
Select the
menu icon on the browser toolbar (three horizontal lines)

Select
Options
.
Select
Privacy & Security and locate the Cookies and Site Data section
.
Select
Clear Data
.
Check both boxes including
Cookies and Site Data and Cached Web Content
.
Select
Clear
.
Select
Clear Now
.
Quit Firefox and restart the browser.
Windows Edge
Select the
menu icon on the browser toolbar (three horizontal dots)
.
Select
Settings
.
Search
cache
in the left hand menu and then select
Choose what to clear
.
Choose the
time period
that you want to clear the data (ex. an hour, 24 hours, 7 days, etc)
Select the check boxes for
Browsing history, Cookies, saved website data, and Cached data and files
. You may want to check other boxes as well.
Select
Clear
.
Quit Edge and restart the browser.
