USB Headset recommendations for departmental purchase

Overview

LITS does not purchase headsets for MHC employees, we consider it an office supply, disposable and not a technical tool.  We recommend headset models to enable direct purchasing by campus departments via the MHC online purchasing system (OPS). An authorized department purchaser can visit the MHC online purchasing service (OPS) web portal to make your purchase.

General recommendations

Headsets can be ordered online through B&H or Newegg. Small accessories, such as earbuds, can be purchased at Staples for the best price. These three vendors offer the best price with the College’s discount. Be sure to compare prices depending on which model you are ordering.  

The recommendations below are all wired headset options. LITS recommends a wired connection to improve sound quality. This feature is of particular importance to faculty who will be recording academic videos, for whom audio quality is critical. 

• It is not necessary to spend hundreds of dollars for a decent headset; average cost should be about $30-80, depending on your needs.  
• Choose a headset that meets the demands of your unique teaching/work environment. 
• Wired headsets will ensure the most reliable sound quality.
