Short term computer loans for faculty/staff

What is it?

The LITS Technology Help Desk Loan program provides short term computer loans for faculty and staff in situations where their only assigned computer is not available or practical.

These situations include, but — at the Assets Management Team's discretion — are not limited to:

  • Computer repair, whether the repair is being done in-house or shipped out, and expected to take more than a day to complete
  • College travel, where the main computer is a desktop but a portable machine is needed while traveling for a conference or other professional event
  • New employee, when their primary computer request is still in process at their start date

The computers available for loan are Dell and Apple portable (laptop) computers with varying specifications, subject to availability.

Who can use it?

Staff and Faculty may be offered a short term computer loan at the discretion of the Assets Management Team.

How do I get it?

This service may not be directly requested. Members of the Asset Management Team will offer it where appropriate. See the top of this page for scenarios when loans tend to be offered.

Hours/Availability

Loans will be processed during regular business hours when the College is open.

Computer check out and check in is accomplished via the Technology Help Desk.
