Library study carrels information

What is it?

Study carrels are small desks placed throughout the library. You may have seen them in your visits to the library — they are typically arranged along the sides of each stacks level. In our library we have 182 carrels. If unoccupied, these carrels are free to use for all library patrons. Traditionally, Seniors can reserve their own specific carrel to use throughout the academic year.

Seniors who are assigned a carrel are allowed to leave study items at the desk. While this makes carrels especially popular with students who plan to work on a thesis or independent study project, this is not required to be eligible for carrel choosing.

Who can use it?

  • Only MHC seniors can reserve carrels (typically)
  • Anyone can use a carrel if it is empty

How do I get it?
