How to download and install GlobalProtect VPN

Overview

MHC's VPN provider, GlobalProtect, is installed by default on all laptop computers that LITS provides to faculty and staff.

GlobalProtect can also be installed on personally-owned devices running the following operating systems: Windows, macOS, Android, and iOS.

Use the instructions below to install and configure GlobalProtect on your devices.

 

Computer instructions

Download the installer

Windows

macOS
From OFF campus
  1. Go to vpn.mtholyoke.edu
  2. Log in with your MHC credentials
  3. Complete Duo if prompted
  4. Select Windows 64 bit GlobalProtect agent

 

From ON campus
  1. Log into your MHC Google account
  2. Download the Windows installer file here
From OFF campus
  1. Go to vpn.mtholyoke.edu 
  2. Log in with your MHC credentials
  3. Complete Duo if prompted
  4. Select Mac 32/64 bit GlobalProtect agent

 

From ON campus
  1. Log into your MHC Google account
  2. Download the macOS installer file here

 

Install the software

  1. Download the GlobalProtect client using the appropriate installer link above.
  2. Open the installer file from your downloads folder.
  3. Follow the install prompts.

 

Configure and connect

  1. Select the GlobalProtect globe icon 

    • Windows: Find this in your task bar (bottom right side of the desktop screen). If you don't see it, you may need to select the up arrow first to view more icons.

    • macOS: Find this in your computer's menu bar (near the WiFi symbol) 

  2. Select Get Started
  3. Enter vpn.mtholyoke.edu as the portal
  4. Choose Connect

 

Mobile device instructions

Get the GlobalProtect app

Find and install the GlobalProtect app from your device's app store. Make sure that the author of the app you install is Palo Alto Networks.

Configure and connect

  1. Open the app.
  2. Enter the portal address: vpn.mtholyoke.edu
  3. Follow these instructions to finish connecting to the VPN.
