Software on faculty/staff computers

Overview

This article covers which software titles are installed on College-owned computers deployed to faculty and staff by default, which ones they can request, which ones they can install on their own, etc.

Supported operating systems

LITS offers computers running the following operating systems: macOS and Windows.

Standard software titles

All MHC-computers deployed to faculty and staff come with a set of standard software titles pre-installed:

Computers also come with their operating system's default applications. See a list of default macOS apps and default Windows apps.

Requestable software titles

There are a few additional College-licensed software titles that faculty and staff can request from LITS:

Self-service software installation

Faculty and staff are set up as local administrators on their primary computer(s) so they can install other College-licensed software titles on their own.

Additionally, local administrator permissions enable faculty and staff to install open source and free software independently.

Department-specific software

Department-specific software installation is usually managed by each department. Ex. Titanium.
