Desktop speaker recommendations
LITS does not supply MHC staff and faculty with external desktop speakers as they are considered an office supply; as such, departments are responsible for purchasing and receiving external desktop speakers. All MHC provisioned laptops are equipped with built-in speakers and do not require use of external desktop speakers for audio playback unless preferred by the user.
Desktop computers that are connected to a base model external monitor do require the use of external speakers for audio playback. LITS does supply one Dell sound bar per desktop computer by request. A Dell sound bar can be requested via a computer accessory request ticket.

Headset recommendations
LITS does not supply MHC staff and faculty with a headset as they are considered an office supply; as such, departments are responsible for purchasing and receiving headsets. A headset can be a helpful tool for users in a shared space who attend virtual meetings.
There are many options available when choosing a headset; LITS recommends a headset with a wired connection as this reduces the needs to charge the headset as well as provides a more stable connection as opposed to a wireless connection.

All MHC provisioned laptops are equipped with built-in webcams and do not require use of external webcams for virtual meetings unless preferred by the user.
Desktop computers that are connected to a base model external monitor do require the use of external webcams for virtual meetings.
There are many options available when choosing an external webcam; LITS recommendations of the minimum requirements to look for in a webcam are 1080p resolution, glass lens, and USB connection.

Laptop and iPad case recommendations
While a case is not required for MHC owned laptops and iPads, they are a great way to extend the life of the device, especially for devices that were purchased using non-LITS funding.
Features to look for in a laptop case are a ventilated bottom to allow for air flow under the laptop in order to prevent over heating, padded or shock absorbing corners to prevent physical damage to the laptop, and water resistance to help prevent water damage to the laptop. These same features are recommended for iPad cases as well; although, a ventilated case is not necessary for an iPad as they typically do not operate at high temperatures.

Laptop riser recommendations
Features to look for in a laptop riser are a ventilated surface to allow for air flow under the laptop in order to prevent over heating as well as grips on the bottom/feet of the stand to ensure a secure and stable elevated surface for the laptop.
