Interlibrary Loan (ILL) support

What is it?

Is the item you need not held by any of the Five College libraries? No worries, LITS has a service to get you materials from almost anywhere! Do you need an article or a book chapter? We can get you a PDF scan. Through interlibrary loan (ILL), you can request books, journal articles, book chapters and videos.

Before submitting a request, check to see if the item you're looking for is available in the Five College collection.

Who can use it?

  • Current MHC students, faculty, and staff
  • MHC Emeriti faculty

Simmons West students should use Simmons University’s interlibrary loan.

How do I get it?

Log in to your ILL account with your MHC username and password and place a request.

You can also request items from our online databases. If you find something that you would like to request, use the blue MHC Get It button MHC Get It. If the item is not available at MHC or in the Five Colleges, select Request document via ILLiad. This method will populate the form for you. Please check for errors and add any other necessary information.

When the item has arrived, you will be notified by email.

  • Books and videos can be picked up at the Circulation Desk. Materials will be held for seven business days.
  • Articles are emailed to you electronically.
