The Canvas Inbox

The inbox in Canvas is a messaging tool to facilitate communication between a group or individual participants within a course. Students may use the inbox to send and receive messages with others in the course. 

  1. To view the inbox, click the “Inbox” link in the Global Navigation menu. The Inbox is organized chronologically from newest to oldest, with  newest conversations appearing at the top.

  2. To compose a message, click on the blue "Compose" button in the upper right-hand corner of the Inbox page and select applicable courses and recipients.

Note: The View Inbox Toolbar allows Instructors to search, filter and compose messages. Icons in the View Inbox Toolbar provide pathways to reply/reply-all to a conversation, and to archive or delete a conversation.
