How to Restart a Canon MFD printer

Overview

When a machine is not working as expected, the first line of defense is to always restart the device. The Canon MFDs sometimes need a reboot. In particular, please follow these instructions if your MFD shows an error "connecting to server."

How to restart an MFD

  1. Use the power button to turn off the MFD

The mfd power switch location: below and to the right of the touchscreen panel.

  1. Unplug the power & network cables from the wall
  2. Wait 60 seconds
  3. Plug the power & network cables back in 
  4. Use the power button to turn the MFD back on 
  5. The MFD screen should return to normal and allow you to send print jobs  
  6. Check to assure the network cord is "snug" at each end
