MHC employees have access to Virtru, an encryption tool for emails containing sensitive information.
Overview
Use these instructions to activate Virtru in your MHC Gmail account.
Where to find this
This is included with your Gmail account. All you will need to do is install the Chrome Virtru Extension.
Where to start
Install the Virtru extension and activate it, the option for Virtru Protection will be available in the compose window of a new email. Slide ON to send a New Secure Message.
Gotchas & pitfalls
- Virtru activation will expire every 120 days, you will be prompted to reactivate it again.
- If you log in to multiple Gmail accounts in Chrome, please consider using Profiles in Chrome. Virtru will only work when you are in your MHC email account.
Inbox Delegation
- For each staff person using inbox delegation, they will need to activate Virtru. Activation emails are device-specific.
- Activation emails are device-specific and for one-time use. Each delegated user needs to activate Virtru. It is suggested that the delegation email is deleted from the inbox after activation to avoid conflict during future activations.
Reactivation
- For security, delegated activations expire after 10 days. To re-activate, if you are not automatically prompted, you can activate it in the Compose window.
