What is it?
Quantitative learning support for coursework and research is offered by LITS.
- We offer support for the use of R and RStudio, including both the MHC RStudio server and the desktop applications. We can provide instructional support for R during class visits, drop-in R hours during the academic year, and individual appointments. Additional resources include our LibGuide on R and RStudio and our Introduction to R Lesson Series which contains self-paced learning materials. LITS does not currently support R Shiny and recommends users explore resources for learning independently.
- We offer support with basic data manipulation and visualization in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets. Individual appointments for this support are available via the link below. Instructors who are interested in planning a class visit around these tools are welcome to contact our team using the information below.
- Jupyterhub use is supported by LITS and faculty may learn more about Jupyterhub servers and how to request a Hub on our Jupyterhub server page
- For those interested in using Tableau, free, 12-month (renewable) licenses are available to faculty and students under their academic program. Support for using Tableau is available from LITS using the information below.
Who can use it?
- Current MHC students, faculty, and staff
- Five College students enrolled in MHC courses
How do I get it?
Drop-in support hours and quantitative learning workshops will be posted to the MHC Events Calendar as soon as details are finalized. This information will be duplicated in other locations on campus through digital signage and flyers.
You can book an appointment with Skye Myerson, our Instructional Technologist for Quantitative Learning, for one-to-one support with R/RStudio, Microsoft Excel, and Google Sheets, or to discuss class visits.
For Jupyterhub requests, visit our Jupyterhub server page and select “request Jupyterhub” on the right side of the screen.
Support for an introduction to using Tableau is available from LITS by contacting Jim Burke, jburke@mtholyoke.edu.
If you have additional questions, contact the Educational Tech team via email at edtech@mtholyoke.edu.
