How to download and install GlobalProtect VPN

Overview

MHC's VPN provider, GlobalProtect, is installed by default on all portable laptop computers that LITS provides. It can also be installed on personally-owned Windows and macOS computers and mobile android and iOS devices. Use the instructions below to install and configure GlobalProtect on your devices.

Windows and macOS computers

Initial software download and installation

1. Download the GlobalProtect client:

   • From off campus, you can download the software for your computer here.
     • Log in with your MHC credentials
     • Choose "GlobalProtect Agent" in the top right
     • Choose the installer file right for your machine (most PCs will use the 64 bit version)
   • From on campus, log into your MHC Google account and download the software here:
     • Software for macOS 
     • Software for Windows (most computers running Windows 10 and newer)

2. Follow the install prompts. 

   • If at any point you are struggling to successfully download the VPN software, try using a different web browser, ie. Firefox, Safari, Chrome, Microsoft Edge. 

Configure and connect

1. Open the GlobalProtect Software Panel and enter the portal address: vpn.mtholyoke.edu

   • Windows: Your globe icon ​​​​​ is on the bottom right in your task bar. Select the globe icon > the hamburger menu  > and then select Settings. Choose Add and enter vpn.mtholyoke.edu > Save.

   • macOS: Your globe icon  on the top right of your screen. Select the globe icon > the hamburger menu  > and then select Settings. Choose the plus sign (+) and add vpn.mtholyoke.edu > Save.

2. Follow these instructions to connect to the VPN.

Android and iOS mobile devices

Initial software download and installation

Find and install the GlobalProtect app for your device:

• Mobile App for Android
• Mobile App for iOS

Note: Make sure that the author of the app you install is Palo Alto Networks.

Configure and connect

1. Open the app.
2. Enter the portal address: vpn.mtholyoke.edu
3. Follow these instructions to connect to the VPN.
