How to complete Duo authentication via SMS text message

Overview

Students who don't have a compatible mobile device or who don't wish to use the Duo mobile app may request to complete Duo authentication via SMS text message instead. Once a student has been set up with Duo SMS, they can follow the instructions in this article to complete Duo authentication with an SMS code.

Steps

  1. Go to the login screen for the system you want to log into that requires Duo multi-factor authentication
  2. Enter your MHC username and password
  3. When prompted for Duo authentication, choose Other Options
  4. Then choose SMS
  5. You'll receive a text message on your phone with a Duo authentication code that is valid for 10 minutes
  6. Enter that code on the Duo authentication screen
  7. You should then be redirected to the system you were logging into
