How to forward your MHC voicemail to email

Overview

Voicemail email is a feature where emails are sent to your email address when your voicemail mailbox receives a new voicemail message. The email can include the voicemail message as an attachment or it can be just an alert. 

Below find instructions for forwarding voicemails from your campus telephone to your MHC email inbox. You can also watch this video tutorial for setting up voicemail to email.

On your physical phone

Through the Visual Voice menu you can change the mode of voicemail email operation. 

1. Press the MESSAGES button

2. Depending on how your system is configured, you may be required to enter your voicemail password and then press Done

3. The Visual Voice menu is displayed

4. Use the up and down cursor keys to scroll to the option Email.

   • If this option is not displayed on your phone, contact the Technology Help Desk

5. The menu displays your current voicemail email mode setting

6. Press Change to scroll through the possible settings:

   • Off - Do not send any emails

   • Copy - Send an email with a copy of the new voicemail message attached

   • Forward - Send an email with the new voicemail message attached and delete the message from the voicemail mailbox

   • Alert - Send an email telling you there is a new message but do not attach a copy of the message

7. When the required setting is displayed, press Save 

8. To exit without changing the setting, press Cancel

Don't have access to your physical phone?

You can also change your voicemail settings in the Avaya Self-Administration portal, which requires a VPN connection.

1. Log in to the Avaya Self-Administration portal with the same username and password you use to log into the Avaya softphone application

2. On the Profile page, find Voicemail to Email Notification

3. Select the setting of your choice:

   • Off - Do not send any emails

   • Copy - Send an email with a copy of the new voicemail message attached

   • Forward - Send an email with the new voicemail message attached and delete the message from the voicemail mailbox

   • Alert - Send an email telling you there is a new message but do not attach a copy of the message

4. Choose Save
